Salford residents and community groups were honoured and celebrated at the 2025 Spirit of Salford Community Awards.
The awards took place on Thursday 3 April at Salford Community Stadium and shined light on local people across the city.
Throughout the evening, the award honoured people who go above and beyond to make a difference in their communities – from supporting others through difficult times to creating positive change in their neighbourhoods.
This year’s awards received more than 500 nominations across ten categories, with an independent panel shortlisting finalists.
Three of the categories were then opened to a public vote, with over 4,000 votes cast online.
With winners of the awards including volunteers, health champions, grassroots organisations, and frontline workers, all of whom have been recognised for their dedication, compassion, and commitment to Salford.
City Mayor Paul Dennett said: “The Spirit of Salford Community Awards are one of the most meaningful events in our city’s calendar.
“They give us the chance to reflect and celebrate the incredible people who make Salford such a strong and caring place.”
Winners of the awards included Ian Carberry, who won Citizen of the Year, Steve Warburton winner of Public Servant of the Year.
As well as Volunteer of the Year, Daniel Maylor, Young Volunteer of the Year, Jackson Haworth, Tony Chorley won Best Health Achievement, and Jen Thomas won Good Neighbour of the Year.
Community groups were also recognised for making a difference in Salford which included Buile Hill Mansion Association who won Best Environmental Improvement.
While Salford Loaves and Fishes won Best Community Safety Project, and Quick Brick won Best Child-Friendly Organisation and Talk About It Mate won Community Group of the Year.
The Mayor of Salford continued: “These individuals and groups don’t do what they do for recognition. They get on with it quietly – supporting others, improving lives, and making their communities better for everyone.
“I was genuinely humbled to hear their stories – from volunteers transforming green spaces to neighbours tackling loneliness, and young people leading with empathy and courage.”
He added: “Each one of them shows what the Spirit of Salford is all about. Thank you to everyone who took the time to nominate, to our judging panel, and most of all to our finalists and winners. You make us proud to be part of this great city.”
