An emergency response was launched outside Swinton police station after a serious incident left a man seriously injured.
Officers were called to assist the man after he sustained injuries outside of the station earlier this afternoon (Friday 4 April).
The man is believed to have suffered life changing injuries and has been taken to hospital.
Multiple emergency vehicles attended the scene. It is understood that the injuries were self-inflicted, with the surrounding area still cordoned off whilst enquiries continue.
Salford GMP shared in a statement: “At around 12.25pm today, officers were called to assist after a man sustained serious injuries outside Swinton Police Station.
“He received potentially life-changing injuries and has been taken to hospital for further treatment. An officer sustained a minor injury as they assisted him.
“There is no wider risk to the public and this is being treated as an isolated incident.”
Police have ensured that enquiries are ongoing and “work is taking place to fully establish the circumstances” of the issue.
