Man from Eccles jailed for involvement in the importation of drugs through the post

An Eccles man has been jailed for three-and-a-half years for the importation, supply and possession of Class B drugs and possessing criminal property.

Cavan Healey, of Langholme Place, was sentenced on Wednesday 26 March 2025 at Manchester Crown Court, after pleading guilty.

Detectives had intercepted a package from Thailand and were able to identify Healey’s involvement in flooding the streets of Salford with drugs.

The work, codenamed Operation Concept, is a joint operation between Greater Manchester Police and the Border Force.

The GMP’s Salford Challenger Pro-active team became aware that Healey was involved in the importation of drugs into the country.

In August 2024 police discovered £21,600 in his car parked outside his house and cannabis with an approximate street value of £22,000 in a kitchen cupboard.

Analysis of Healey’s phone messages showed he was dealing in multi-kilograms of cannabis, importing the quantities direct from Thailand through the post to different associate addresses.

Detective Sergeant Daniel Worthington, from Salford Challenger Unit, said: “Our enquiries are ongoing around the use of this system to import drugs nationally and hopefully this sentence sends a clear message to others out there that if they are intent on committing crime and flooding the streets with drugs, we will do everything we can to bring the full force of the law to your doorstep.

Programme Challenger tackles all manner of serious crime: county lines drugs, exploitation of young children and vulnerable adults, modern slavery, immigration and economic crime and the use of firearms.
