Police collision appeal

Officers are appealing for information after a man in his 60s died and several people injured following a collision on the M60 in Salford.

The fatal collision occurred in Salford last night between junction 15 (M61) and junction 16 near Swinton.

The incident involved a heavy goods vehicle (HGV), and it is believed that several other people suffered minor injuries in the collision.

It is believed that the vehicle, an HGV with a white cab and blue trailer, had been travelling on the M60 when the vehicle lost control and collided into two vehicles.

It then crossed into the opposing carriageway and collided with a further two vehicles, before coming to rest on the verge.

Sadly, the driver of one of the vehicles, a man in his 60s, died as a result of injuries from the collision.

A woman in her 20s suffered serious injuries not believed to be life-threatening, while several other people sustained minor injuries.

At this current time no arrests have been made – however closures remain in place and drivers are advised to check for latest travel updates while planning their journey.

Officers from our Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are now investigating the incident and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

This includes anyone who saw the collision or has any relevant dashcam footage from around the time of the crash.

Police can be contacted via 101 or our Live Chat service, quoting log number 3043 of 20/03/25.

Alternatively, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
