Football fans will be able to experience a crucial Division One Clash this weekend as Irlam Tigers FC are set to face Salford Albion FC.
The tension will be building between the two sides in a pivotal moment of the league campaign, with three games remaining, in the race for the top spot.
The fixture will be held between the Tigers and Salford Albion at the Irlam and Cadishead Academy Sports Centre.
And with Irlam Tigers currently second in the league, this win will be vital for their final push towards the top.
Ahead of the fixture, Irlam Tigers manager, Mike Cartwright said: “We’ve only got three league games left and we’re in a good position.
“We’re quite high up in the league right now, so it’s all about seeing where we stand at the end of it all.”
The two clubs will also have the chance to compete in the cup competition, as Mark mentioned the oppositions cup success.”
He continued: “I know Salford Albion are in the other semi-final with us, so there’s a chance we could meet them again in the final.”
And with his team still in the race for the league title Cartwright reflected on the team’s journey so far this season.
He said: We start off slow, but we are the only team to have beaten Didsbury, who are up there with us in the league.
“So, we managed to beat a team that had only been defeated once in two years, a team that’s won the league title multiple times.”
The victory over their league rivals Didsbury, will have hopefully lifted his sides ambitions in the remaining league fixtures.
And as they approach their second-ever meeting against Salford Albion – there will be a level of jeopardy to the league fixture and the intensity of the rivalry.
The Tigers will be looking to assert their dominance and pick up vital points, but Albion will bring their own fight, especially with the way both teams are positioned in the standings.
One of Irlam’s major advantages has been the return of striker Jordan Cartwright, who has been a target man since coming back into the fold four games ago.
The forward has found the back of the net thirteen times in those four matches alone.
And players such as Charlie Haymes, and Connor Davies have also been assets for the Irlam side, with Haymes being a threat in midfield and finding the back of the net on multiple occasions.
And Connor Davies ability to stop them from going in the net in only his first season with the Tigers.
With Mike Cartwright’s men hitting form at the right time and a squad brimming with talent, the Irlam Tigers look ready to deliver a performance that could propel them to the top of the league — but they will need to get past the challenge of Salford Albion first.
The contest between two sides will kick off this Saturday at 10:15am – and will hope to offer a fantastic derby clash.
