Salford audiences are set to be entertained as Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman comes to the Lowry this spring.

The production that will be led by Scottish star of TV and film David Hayman, and joined by an incredible ensemble cast in one of the greatest plays of the twentieth century.

The performance by Hayman and cast will take place from Tuesday 29 April, and will run until Saturday 3 May.

Hayman best known for Sid and Nancy, Dad’s Army, Andor will play the role of Willy Loman, and will be joined on stage by Beth Marshall (Linda), Daniel Cahill (Biff), Michael Wallace (Happy), Benny Young (Charley), Gavin Jon Wright (Bernard), Simon Donaldson (Howard Wagner).

As well as Charlene Boyd (Woman in Boston), Stewart Ennis (Ben), Fay Guiffo (Miss Forsythe), Bailey Newsome (Stanley), and Gillian Massey (Jenny/Letta).

The talented cast will also be directed by Andy Arnold, who will take Lowry audiences on a a thrilling journey through the final 24 hours of Willy Loman’s life.

A life filled with his memories, dreams, and struggles and pitting a father’s expectations against his son’s realities.

As he continues to cling to the belief that charm and ambition are the keys to success, but Willy’s world unravels as he faces the truth about his life and legacy.

This powerful and moving story explores the sacrifices people make in pursuit of the ‘American Dream’. Heartbreaking and thought-provoking, it’s a timeless tale of ambition, family, and the price of chasing success.

Ahead of the performance at the Lowry this spring, David Hayman said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be bringing Death of a Salesman to theatres across the UK.

Death of a Salesman is written by Arthur Miller – one of the greatest playwrights of the 20th century.

And with this production being directed by Andy Arnold, they hope to maintain the legacy of what has been regarded as masterpiece.

The play has also won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, cementing Miller’s reputation as a master storyteller who captured the struggles, dreams, and complexities of everyday life.

Director Andy Arnold said: “Death of a Salesman is one of the greatest plays ever written, and it’s a privilege to bring it to life with such a brilliant cast lead by David Hayman.

“Arthur Miller’s exploration of family relationships and shattered dreams is as powerful and relevant today as it was when first performed.”
