Salford City face Grimsby Town - Salford City

Salford City will travel to Grimsby this weekend, as they hope to reignite their season after going six games without a win.

The Ammies will be hoping to lift themselves back up the table after a 4-0 home defeat to Chesterfield on Tuesday night.

Karl Robinsons’ side, who despite started the fixture evenly matched, were left to fight the remaining hour of the fixture with 10-men.

Salford forward Hakeeb Adelakun, was sent off for an off the ball altercation in the 26th minute which put the Ammies on the backfoot.

And matters were made worse, when Salford conceded two quick goals in the 40th and 44th minute of the game to go into halftime 2-0 down.

With a mountain to climb, the Ammies failed to get back into the game and lost 4-0 – however, this weekend they have a chance to bounce back when they meet Grimsby Town.

The fixture held at Blundell Park will be a fiery affair, with the two sides separated by six points in the race for promotion with 10 games remaining in the campaign.

And with Salford going into the 3pm in a lower position, they will be looking to secure three points and get revenge for the 2-1 home defeat earlier this season.

The two sides met in October, with Grimsby taking the lead in the opening minute with Cole Stockton scoring to level the tie.

However, it was a second goal from Luca Barrington that separated the two teams.

And with the Ammies approaching the game in poor form, they will be looking to take advantage of Grimsby most recent defeat against Notts County 2-0.

Although Salford City will have to be cautious as The Mariners are coming into the game in better form, only losing one in the last nine fixtures.

Grimsby’s form is also a testament to manager David Artell, who will be looking to maintain the strong form into the last fifth of the season.

And with Karl Robinsons’ side failing to get a win in the last six games, this game could play more in favour for the home side.

However, a win for Salford City would close the gap between the two teams and lift them into 10th position with Bromley playing one more game already.

The game will kick off at 3pm at Blundell Park and will be fiery affair with both sides looking to march towards the promotion place.
