Salford residents will be welcomed to a monthly drop-in sessions hosted in Eccles for members of the community with autism.

The sessions are set to be held at Eccles Gateway and will be hosted by Salfordautism and they will be offering to help anyone who is, caring for, or affected by someone with an Autism Spectrum condition or ADHD.

Sessions hosted by SalfordAutism will take place on the second Thursday of every month, with residents able to attend from 1pm until 5pm.

Guests will be encouraged to come and can go as they please – being welcomed into the safe, inclusive, and social environment.

Ahead of the drop-in sessions, Peter Baimbridge, director of SalfordAutism share on what people who attend can expect.

Peter said: “Very simply when you turn up, we stick a brew in one hand and a biscuit in the other, introduce you to anyone you don’t know and from there on it’s down to you.

“Some people choose to dive straight in, some people just sit there and listen, some people will actually bring a book and sit off to one side and listen while they get used to the environment,” he continued.

The drop-in sessions will also be free for those who attend, with no obligations, no formality, and no need for a diagnosis to enter, as Peter said: “Just a relaxed social environment to meet other people like you!”

If you would like to attend alone but you feel unsure about walking into a new place, SalfordAutism can be contacted in advance to arrange for someone to meet you outside and walk in with you, so you do not feel alone.

The website has also said that they are “very friendly, and the groups are designed to achieve an objective.”
