World Book Day - Ellesmere High School

A high school in Eccles was able to celebrate World Book Day following a generation donation of books from a local construction firm. 

Students at Ellesmere Park High School, marked World Book Day on Thursday 6 March, with a series of events aimed at inspiring a lifelong love of reading.

The theme of this year’s World Book Day was “Read Your Way,” encouraging students to explore reading in a way that felt personal and enjoyable, making it a fun and interactive experience for everyone.

And the celebrations of reading saw students and staff at Ellesmere Park High School participate in a variety of activities designed to highlight the joy of books and storytelling.

The school were able to also extend their celebrations following a donation from MC Construction, a Salford-based company working with the school on a major expansion project.

MC Construction’s donation helped students explore new books and also enabled them to redesign and organize the library area into a calm, nurturing space where students could immerse themselves in reading.

Ewan Campbell, Librarian at Ellesmere Park High School, said: “On behalf of Ellesmere Park High School, we would like to express our sincere thanks to MC Construction for their generous donation of books to celebrate World Book Day.

“This thoughtful contribution will have a lasting impact on our students, providing them with valuable resources that will inspire a love of reading and enhance their learning experience for years to come.”

The local construction company are working on a scheme at Ellesmere Park High School, which includes a dining hall extension, the installation of a new modular building to create two additional classrooms, and external works.

The expansion project at the school, part of Consilium Academies, is expected to be completed by Summer 2026.
