Salford pet owners are set to see a new independent veterinary practice come to the Quays this Spring.

MCR Vets will be joining Salford Quays residents and become the new space for pets at MediaCity Riverside.

The independent veterinary practice is planned to open on April 28 and will be a dedicated space for compassionate care giving.

The practice will be led by experienced vet Sinéad Bennett, the founder of MCR Vets – who after registering the name in 2023 is now finally building her dream independent practice with community at the heart.

After 17 years of veterinary experience, she said: “It’s just an incredible feeling, it really feels like a culmination of a lifetime worth of goals.

“I can finally pour everything that I want to be into my own clinic.”

After growing up in Salford, Sinéad is hugely dedicated to providing her community with a reliable and caring team of veterinary experts.

She continued: “I want them to come and have an unrivalled experience that they’re not going to have in a standard vet.”

Pet owners will be encouraged to “pop in” to the practice to get treats for their pets, simply to get them used to the idea of visiting the vet and make them less scared of the idea.

The practice is easily accessible for residents of Salford Quays and will be situated behind the Harbour City tram stop, making it accessible for those coming from Manchester.

After working in a corporate field, Sinéad also realised how important reasonable prices would be to her and her customers.

She and her staff will aim to provide the most welcoming environment they can, therefore making their prices as reasonable as possible, and Sinéad also promised no hidden costs, just “clear and fair pricing”.

MCR Vets are partnered with the RSPCA Salford Branch and are also the only veterinary practice in Salford to participate in the Cats Protection neutering voucher scheme.

Sinéad said: “It ties into that idea of community, not just the people community but also the animal community around Salford and Manchester”.

MCR Vets will also be committed to the next generation of veterinary professionals and are partnered with Pendleton Sixth Form College, providing a veterinary mentorship programme for aspiring veterinary students.

Alongside this, they will also fund an annual veterinary medicine scholarship, supporting those who may hit financial barriers.

The practice will host as a welcoming and supportive environment for their patients and for their staff, and will offer spaces away from clinical areas, to ensure staff do not feel stressed and are able provide perfect care to their patients.

To celebrate the launch in April, MCR Vets will be inviting the local community to their grand open day, with its date to be confirmed.

Pet owners, students, and veterinary professionals will be offered a tour of the practice and team and will be told more about the services on offer.
