Redevelopment

Redevelopment opportunities in Salford are set to be showcased to investors as a part of a property and real estate trade show.

Salford City Council have confirmed their return to MIPIM (Le Marché international des professionnels de l’immobilier) this year for the four-day festival in Cannes, France.

For the event, Salford City Deputy Mayor and Lead Member for Finance, Support services and regeneration, Jack Youd, is heading up a team of senior officers from Salford City Council to attend this year’s event.

Alongside Youd, John Searle, Executive Director Place, Stephanie Mullenger, Interim director Property and Housing and Sarah Ashurst, Head of Partnership and Investment will all be attending.

The team’s focus will be on raising the profile of the city and positioning Salford as an innovative forward-thinking environment on a global stage.

Ahead of the event, Jack Youd, Deputy City Mayor said: “MIPIM presents an important opportunity for the city and as a first-time attendee I’m excited to experience everything the event has to offer.

“The connections made and developed at MIPIM are central to achieving our goals”

He continued: “Salford City Council has long identified MIPIM as an important opportunity to share the city’s regeneration story and highlight the city’s vision for the future with those who have the potential to help deliver and achieve it.”

The council current priorities include new ambitious visions for the town centre, and the redevelopment of Eccles and Swinton, as well as the the upcoming Strangeways and Cambridge Strategic regeneration framework.

The new emerging Mayoral Development Zone at the western gateway, and the future redevelopment plans for Media City will also be included, as well as the importance of affordable social housing.

The key objectives for attending MIPIM are raising the city’s profile on an international stage; highlighting the exciting development opportunities on the horizon; making those connections with potential developer partners.

Heading out to Cannes, France, from March 11 to march 14, the event will present the team a chance to meet with developers and public sector officials from cities and regions across the world.
