Salford Red Devils Women found plenty of positives in their pre-season friendly against Featherstone Rovers at Fryston in preparation for their first game of the season against the Sheffield Eagles.
They will kick off their 2025 campaign on March 23 and will look to build off of the friendly and the positives that came alongside it.
Featherstone managed to edge out a 12-0 win against the Red Devils.
Despite the loss Assistant Coash Armarni Sharrock said: “Only a pre-season friendly but plenty of positives to take for the girls.”
The Rovers opened their account just before the half and continued their scoring ways through a hard fought battle in the middle.
The game was a physical endeavour but the Rovers came out on top in the end, however the Red Devils are looking strong pre-season.
“Obviously we come up against a side who played in the super league last year with a really big pack and a dominant pack and I thought our forward stood up really well and we played off the back of it and loads of positives for us.
“The girls really fought for each other considering this was the first time a few of them have played with each other, I thought it was fantastic we talked about attitude before the game and how that had to be the measure of how successful today was.”
Although Salford Red Devils Women is still in its infancy after the formation in 2021, they finished third in the Northern Women’s Championship, and will be determined for a shot at the Betfred Women’s Super League this season to take themselves to the next level.
More players than ever before will play Women’s Rugby League this season, with more than 60 clubs competing nationwide making an exciting endeavour for any viewer.
