A children’s soft play centre has celebrated the buses coming back to public control by rebranding its own bus ride to the Bee Network yellow..
The yellow branding will transport the ride into the Bee Network livery to promote the offer of discounting entry fee for families who visit Playkidds in Swinton.
The discount has been on offer since opening in 2015 to enter the soft play for families using public transport, and shared that the promotion of the discount hasn’t been as good as they would have liked.
The bus ride makeover has been made possible thanks to Playkidds partners Leisurematic and Transport for Greater Manchester’s (TfGM) brand team.
And the aim of the makeover is to help children and youngster recognise the bus as the same one they may have seen or used on the way to the soft play centre.

Following the rebranding of the bus that has been launched today (Friday 28 February) at 10:30 am, Matthew O’Neill, Director of Playkidds, said: “We know there has been a lot of hard work behind the scenes to integrate our buses into a service which we can all be proud of, and we wanted to recognise that in our own way.
“We understand that times are hard for families just now, but we also recognise that it is important that children can get their exercise in disguise at a soft play session.”
He continued: “This is why we hope that the discount we offer will help families who use the public transport and encourage more people to do so.
“I think everyone in and around Greater Manchester will have seen the distinct yellow buses with the Greater Manchester bee logo.”
Since launching in September 2023, the Bee Network has made travelling by public transport, cheaper, simpler and more reliable, with families able to take advantage of an array of family-specific fares as part of a range of flexible ticket options.
Following the transformation of the bus ride at the soft play centre, Fran Wilkinson, TfGM’s Customer and Growth Director, said: “We are immensely proud of what we have achieved in bringing buses in Greater Manchester back under local control.
“Ensuring our passengers and communities are served by cheaper, cleaner and more reliable services.”
Fran continued: “Our yellow buses have become symbolic of a period of huge change, and we are delighted to add the Playkidds bus ride to our extensive fleet of Bee Network buses.
“We want to thank them for promoting public transport amongst children and their families.”
The soft play centre also invited residents to guess what the new ride design was going to be – offering guests the chance to win free entry.
