A football team from Salford are aiming to fundraise £3,000 through laughter in the hopes of raising enough money to play football in Spain.

The City of Salford School F.A are hosting a comedy night to allow their under-15 boys teams to travel to compete in Spain this May.

The club will be hosting their comedy fundraiser on Friday11 April at the Walkden Cricket Club – as they hope to add to the £800 previously raised.

This time the club will be hoping to raise upwards of £1,000 and push them closer to the set target of £3,000.

The club held a fundraiser in February, where they raised around £800 – however this event will be hosted by Liam Alexander and featuring Jake Breeze, Adam Anwar and Lewy Morrison.

Guests in attendance can expect an evening full of laughter, as well as a raffle with several “top quality” prizes, including a signed and framed Kobbie Mainoo shirt, tickets to watch Salford City FC, a full round of golf with four friends at the Marriot in Worsley, Dine for Free at local restaurants and more.

Adam Fish who coaches the U15’s team is hopeful that they will raise the money for the trip and follow the long-standing tradition of the club.

Adam said: “We have a long-standing tradition in which the U15’s in their final year with the club, tour a country overseas and compete against local opposition.”

It was a “massive achievement” for the club to win the district competition last year, and Adam has no doubt that his team would be just as successful in the spring.

He continued: “They’re a very talented group of players. They’re a very special group that have shown resilience throughout their time at the club.”

A successful fundraiser would mean a great deal to both Adam and his team as raising this money would allow all 16 members to attend their final trip together.

Any additional money from fundraising would allow the Salford football team to put it towards extra activities during their trip, making memories to last a lifetime.

Adam continued: “It’s an experience that not every child will have the opportunity to do.

“For some of the players and their backgrounds, this fundraiser is absolutely vital for them to be a part of the trip”.

The event is strictly 18+, with doors opening at 7pm and the first act coming out at 8pm – and those in attendance will be able to get tickets at a cost of £10, plus a booking fee, and can be purchased here.
