Swinton Lions received a visit from RFL President and comedian Adam Hills yesterday, who attended the club’s 16-10 victory.
Adam Hills who is best known for hosting, The Last Leg, with co-hosts Josh Widdicombe and Alex Brooker visited the club during their opening league game against Whitehaven RLFC.
The Australian comedian took over as the president of the Rugby Football League for 2025, after it was announced in the summer that we would be replacing former president, Sir Lindsay Hoyle.

Hills became the first Australian to hold the honorary position and was able to pay his first visit of the season in the role to Heywood Road Stadium.
Adam Hills shared on social media following the visit: “My first official visit as Presidents of the Rugby Football League was to Swinton Lions – a club I helped out many years ago.”
The new president of the Rugby League also shared to his followers that he intends “to visit as many clubs as he can in the next couple of years.”
As he shared his mission is to “show why Rugby League is the greatest sport of all.”
During his visit, he watched the Lions get their first win of the season, as well as meeting with club staff and team members.
Adam described his visit as “proper, cold, wet, old school rugby league.”

Following the visit, Swinton Lions shared their appreciation for the comedian and president as a spokesperson said: “A massive thank you to Adam Hills, RFL President, for coming down to our game yesterday!
“Your support means the world to us, and it was incredible to have you there cheering us on.”
The club continued: “Your passion for rugby league and the growth of the game is truly inspiring. We appreciate everything you do for the sport.
Swinton Lions were successful in their first league fixture of the season and have been able to put themselves third in the table following two tries from Harry Higham and another from Jordan Paga.
