Salford residents have been urged to keep their doors and windows closed following a fire on Bazaar Street on Wednesday night.
Yesterday (Wednesday 19 February) the emergency fire service attended the incident at an industrial estate in Salford at around 9.40pm – which is known to be a commercial building.
Eight fire engines, the enhanced rescue unit, the command support unit and the breathing apparatus unit from across Greater Manchester attended a building fire on Bazaar Street, Salford.
As a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “Crews wearing breathing apparatus arrived quickly and used two hose reel jets and one scorpion to extinguish the fire.”
Multiple emergency services vehicles and firefighters remained at the scene for around eight hours.
Following the incident the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue service have urged people to avoid the area.
As a spokesperson continued: “Due to south easterly winds, nearby residents are advised to keep their windows and doors closed.
“People should avoid the area if possible.”
