Two Salford men are running the Manchester marathon to raise funds for the nursery where they were once pupils.
Leon Horrocks and Jacob Davies are aiming to raise £1,500 for Christ The King Primary School Nursery by running the Manchester marathon.
On their JustGiving page, Leon wrote: “This nursery was where my own learning journey began, and now, many years later, my mum teaches there, continuing to nurture and inspire young children.”

Their motivation for running the marathon is the current state of the Walkden nursery, which they say is “in desperate need of new resources and updates.”
Leon’s mum Lisa Horrocks said: “I’ve worked at Christ The King for 22 years, and it’s not really changed much.”
She described the nursery as “dated,” and that it’s in need of “lots of love and attention.”
Two past pupils are running the Manchester Marathon to raise funds for our wonderful school. Blown away by this act of kindness. Also, bursting with pride as back in the day I was their class teacher! Now proud HT, Mrs P❤️ https://t.co/UNxDc88XTJ

The money raised will be used on a new floor for the classroom, sensory toys and improving the children’s outdoor space.
Lisa said: “Every child deserves the best possible start. Hopefully with the help of our community, we can make that a reality.”
The fund is currently at £590.
The fundraising effort has received lots of support online from donators. Nick Potts said: “I cannot put into words my gratitude for what you are doing. You’ve got this!”
