An award winning music venue in Salford is hosting a DIY screening and showing the cult classic ground-breaking film, The Rock Horror Picture Show.
The Eagle Inn, will be hoping to celebrate queerness through the film, inviting guests to dress up and bring their best Magenta, Riff Raff or Frank-N-Furter costumes.
The screening of the show will take place on Sunday 16 February, and doors will open at 7pm – before starting at 7:30pm.
The event at The Eagle Inn will be used to encourage people to come together and celebrate the queer community for LGBTQ+ History Month.
And this was explained by event organiser, Lana Lewis, she said: “I really wanted to do a screening like this because the film itself has been very important to me growing up as a queer person.
“I have always heard about the DIY screenings back in the day when it was released and how important it was for community, so knowing that it is LGBT History Month, that is very fitting, I suppose. I just wanted to do something that encouraged queer community.”
The event will be used to raise money for charity – with any donations being welcomed on the night in the hope of raising money for medical aid for Palestinians.
As Lana continued: “I didn’t want to make it compulsory to have to pay for the event just because I know that’s not feasible for everyone and I didn’t want to block people from coming.
“But I’m hoping it does at least provide the opportunity for people (to donate) if they don’t really think about it in their day-to-day lives. Now, that is the most pressing issue.”
The event will take place on Sunday 16 February, and doors will open at 7pm – before starting at 7:30pm – with more information being found here.
