Salford man police issue sentenced missing

The police and family of a missing man from Salford have shared that he has been found after going missing in Tenerife.

The Greater Manchester Police have confirmed via the Salford district that Liam Hannigan, 34, has been found and is safe with his family.

Liam, from Clifton, Salford, had not been in contact with friends or family since last Friday (February 7), only being sighted on CCTV in the morning of Monday 10 February.

His sister, Ellie Hannigan, shared an update on social media yesterday (February 11),.

She said “The CCTV footage from the morning of 10/02/2025 confirms that Liam was seen walking alone, without any belongings and without the means to pay for food or drinks.”

But following the appeals and his parents travelling to the island to help in the search, Ellie made it aware at 6:18pm yesterday evening (February 11) that he had been found and was safe with his family.

His sister shared on social media: “My Mum and Dad have successfully found Liam while searching for him in Tenerife this evening.

“He is now on his way back to safety with them, where he will receive the necessary care he needs.”

She continued: “We are so grateful to everyone who has helped us during this incredibly difficult time.  Knowing Liam is safe and with Mum and Dad is a huge relief. Thank you all for your support and love.”

Both the Foreign Office and Greater Manchester Police had been supporting the family, along with Spanish authorities – which was confirmed yesterday.
