Salford City’s Head Coach Karl Robinson praise his team’s performance following a 2-0 victory over Tranmere Rovers.

The win for the Ammies ended their winless run, and they were able to bounce back into the play off positions beating the travelling side who sat 22nd.

Despite the lack of victories before Saturday’s fixture, the Ammies have been a tough side to beat, now going four unbeaten, winning one and drawing three.

The victory saw Hakeeb Adelakun score a brace with goalkeeper Jamie Jones keeping a clean sheet – the duo’s performances have seen them listed in the team of the week.

Despite the pairs brilliant performance, Head Coach Karl Robinson expressed his enjoyment for the whole side after securing all three points.

He said: “I thought we were the better team still; I thought we created the better chances, missing two or three

“You’d argue after our two or three, but they missed they’d close with one that come across the goal which he probably should have done better. But I’m over the moon, I’m really happy.”

However, with the game ending in 2-0  Karl Robinson found time to praise his goalkeeper Jamie Jones for the clean sheet.

Karl Robison added: “I don’t think our goalkeeper has been called upon on very often of late and we have not won a game.

“Today he was called up on multiple times and we ended up winning the game 2-0, I think he was probably one of our better players today and I’m really pleased for him.”

Jamie Jones who has played 19 times this season for the Ammies and conceding 24 goals this season, recently came back into the team after being on the bench for 10 this league campaign.

The three points from the win over the Rovers, have been vital for keeping Salford City in the playoffs and promotion push.

Robinson praised the fans that made it to the game and got behind their team especially at home, as he said: “Kicking toward them people behind the goal, it means so much to us

“We could hear them and that’s important.”

After commending the fans, Robinson showed his appreciation for goal scorer Hakeeb Adelakun, who scored both goals in the 2-0 win.

He continued: “Hakeeb has been out for what three and a half months, how can you go through a season and miss a play of that quality.

“I don’t know how many goals, seven or eight goals he’s probably scored now, in nine starts, he’s just a wonderful footballer.

“I think the output today from him was very good.”

Karl also then pointed out that he needs his team to stay focused on the season and to keep fighting every game to get the wins to hopefully get Salford into League One.

“There’s still a lot of games to play for and we need to fight for every single one.”

And the praised supporters will be hoping for more of the same, as they will be tested against fifth place AFC Wimbeldon this weekend – this can be found here.
