Salford police have responded to a road traffic collision that occurred in the early hours of the morning with one car on the railway line.

The collision that occurred at around 2am this morning, (Friday 7 February 2025) with reports of a road traffic collision (RTC) involving one car landing on its roof on the railway tracks beneath the Regent Road roundabout, in Salford

Emergency services arrived at the scene of the collision with one man in his 30s being taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-changing or life-threatening.

A spokesperson from the GMP said: “There is still a police scene in place on Regents Road and we continue to work with British Transport Police and Network Rail to conduct initial enquiries.

We apologise for any disruption and we thank the public for their patience as we work in the area.” 

Disruptions on the railway line are expected as a spokesperson from National Rail said: “Whilst they complete their work, all lines are closed through Eccles and no trains will run through this station.

“As a result, trains between Newton-le-Willows / Wigan North Western and Manchester Oxford Road / Manchester Victoria will be cancelled, revised or diverted.”

A man in his 30s has since been arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
