Salford City Head Coach Karl Robinson praised his sides and fans reaction to comeback from 3-0 down to snatch a 3-3 draw.
The Ammies who found three goals down after 51 minutes, were seemingly dead and buried in the fixture.
And with his side going in at half-time 2-0 down, Karl Robinson shared his thoughts on his teams performance.
He said: “I felt that we were ok in the first half and probably had the best chances, but we were hit with two suckerpunches.
“I don’t think we deserved to be 2-0 down at half time.”
However, with goals from Lewis Warrington in the 62nd minute, Matty Lund in the 77th minute, and a late 92nd minute goal from Cole Stockton – the Ammies were able to grab a point.
The draw will meant that Salford have now drawn three in a row, and only picking up three points in the last five games – but they still remain two points off Bradford City and the playoff places.
However, with a late comeback from three goals behind it feels like a point won, rather than points lost.
Following the fixture, Karl Robinson shared his delight with the fans, who were able to will his side back into the game, he continued: “We ended up coming out of this because of the fans.
“At 3-0 down we heard the fans and it gave us a bit of personality on the bench to the point where the assistant referee told us to sit down for giving too much belief and shouting that on to our players.
“Our fans have been so good, but at some stage the football club has to grow, we need this place rocking.”
However, despite the positive reception to the fans believes that more is to come from his side, he said: “We want to be better so we can’t accept throwing excuses out left, right and centre, we’ve got to be better because of the consequences of this evening.”
And with his side two points below the play off positions, he has encouraged his players to relight that fire, he continued: “We’re two points off, there might be a game here or there but when we had a game in hand it doesn’t help you.”
And after recovering points, the Salford City manager added: “If we get a result at the weekend we could jump into the play-offs, then we roll our sleeves up after a bad patch, and life’s all about being knocked down, football’s not too dis-similar to that.
“We leave here with a self-belief and a self-confidence that if we go 3-0 down we can get ourselves back in it, what it does do it’s building blocks for the next chapter.”
Karl will now be hoping to use his sides ability to fight their way back to a draw as they turn their attention to Tranmere Rovers this weekend.
