A running club created by two mums in Irlam is encouraging people of all abilities to join in and get fit together.
The KK run club was set up in July 2024 by Kelly Godiff, 36, and Katie Stephan, 37, with the ambition of promoting health and wellbeing.
Katie, who works as a Practice Nurse in Monton, and Kelly, a conveyancer at a law firm, use running as a form of self care and to de-stress.
The pair met when they were at school, and have been best friends ever since.
They believed that a running club could be used to promote healthy living and improve in a supportive environment.
Katie said: “Our main goal is to continue to grow the club and welcome runners of all abilities.
“We’d like to promote health and fitness in the community, organise regular events or races, and eventually work towards offering different training programmes.
“We also want to create a more social aspect where people can bond through running, while staying motivated to achieve personal fitness goals.”

The club aims to improve both mental and physical health.
Katie continued: “Not only has running improved our physical health, but it has also helped me manage stress and improve mental clarity.
“It’s given us a sense of routine and accomplishment and having a group to run with has made it more enjoyable and motivating.”
The club that has been running since July last year has been growing steadily, continuing to develop month on month.
Katie added: “We’ve organised weekly runs, built up a steady group of regular participants, and expanded the club’s activities.
“It’s been amazing to see how quickly it’s become a fun, consistent part of people’s lives.”
The club is welcoming anyone to get involved no matter their pace or experience.
Throughout the week the club offers multiple sessions, Tuesdays are Black Ice Bikini run – a 5km run with paces ranging from 4:30min/km to 7:30min/km.
The Tuesday night sessions are aimed at runners looking to challenge themselves or simply enjoy a steady jog.
Those who attend the sessions on Thursdays at 6pm will involve a relaxed 3km run ideal for beginners, and the best way to get moving and take the pressure off.
The Saturday 9am sessions involve a longer run ranging from 5min/km to 7min/km, and will be used to build up social relationships, and building a strong community spirit.
But the duo also have greater ambitions, as Katie said: “We want to keep challenging ourselves by participating in races, including longer distances like a half marathon or full marathon.”
