Owners of the Kings Head pub - Pub in Eccles.

A pub in Eccles is celebrating their early success and exciting plans under new management.

The Kings Head on Barton Lane has been given a new lease of life, being reintroduced to the people of Salford.

The duo of Sabarish Raj, 38 and Vinay Mandava, 39, took ownership of the building in November are hoping to reconnect the local people to the pub.

The pair have always had the ambition of owning a pub – and after living in the area for sometime they believed the Kings Head was the perfect destination.

Sabarish said: “We have been able to get a place that used to be up and running, and was a favourite place for the locals.

“It was closed during COVID, and it was something we decided to take over and bring back to the area.

“We have kept the name, and kept it how it – but have introduced our own kitchen downstairs, called Flavour Fusion.”

Flavour Fusion, which is being looked after by Sabarish, is the new venture in the pub – hoping to keep the traditional feel but also introducing their culture through food.

And introduction of the Indian culture to the menu has been something they have wanted to add to the traditional pub to make it truly one of a kind.

As Sabarish, explained that it was something important to them both, he said: “The whole concept of the food is to retain its English culture which it had already, but bring in the Indian food.

“It is going very well and we have a variety of appetizers and meals, and our food has had good responses and positive feedback.

“We know that people in the area like traditional Indian food, especially the curries, and we want to bring that mix to the pub,” he continued.

And although they are aiming to revitalise the pub with authentic Indian dishes, they have no plans on changing the tradition and history, as Vinay continued.

“We want to be a traditional English pub, that serves wonderful Indian food.

“This our first time doing this, but this place was the perfect location because of the area and the pub has a lot of history.”

The pair have shared that they seen a lot of positive responses from reopening the pub in Eccles, and are now on a mission to continue to build on that success.

Sabarish added: “We want to stand out, and be a place that people can enjoy and also get great food.

“We have already had a lot of people say to us, ‘thank you for bringing it back’, so that’s really good for us.

“Even through January we worried it was going to be quiet, but it wasn’t so hopefully we can keep building on that.”

Opening towards the end of last year, they added they saw a lot of success over Christmas, and have big plans for the future.

“It has been a couple of months now since opening, and it has been good. And we are hoping that now we can kick on and make the final adjustments for the summer.”

The Kings Head pub in Eccles will also see guests entertained by a selection of different events, not only wowing them with amazing food and drink but live singers, DJs, pub quizzes and games nights.

Sabarish said: “We plan to do a variety of different nights, as we want people to come in and enjoy it once again.”
