A local charity is calling for people with a wide range of skills and passions to help them raise much-needed funds.
The Caritas Diocese of Salford are a charity that support individuals and families experiencing poverty, homelessness and disadvantage.
And they are calling for anyone to come and help them raise vital funds to help battle against the increased demand for its services.
The need for support comes as communities in the area continue to be hit hard, with many more being driven closer to crisis point.
The local charity are asking residents of Salford to take on a challenge in 2025 to raise as much as possible.
And this was shared by Patrick O’Dowd, director of Caritas Salford, who said: “We’re looking for runners, readers, gardeners, bakers – and even candlestick makers! Whatever your passion we’d love to hear from you.
“All we are asking is that you choose to do something that pushes you out of your comfort zone in 2025.”
Whether residents of Salford wish to take on a physical or mental challenge during 2025 – they are encourage people to think of inventive ways to participate in their Every Step campaign.
The Every Step campaign challenges people to do something that pushes them out of their comfort zone to help raise awareness and funds for Caritas Salford.
Patrick continued: “ So whether that’s reading a set number of books in a month, baking lots of cakes for a sale, walking a number of miles of your choosing, or signing up to take on the Great Manchester Run. You can decide what you want to do, where and when.
“The harsh reality is that many people in Greater Manchester and Lancashire simply don’t have access to the basics.
“ No safe place to call home, no food for their family, with many never imagining they would be in this position.”
He added: “However you choose to take part, Every Step – however big or small – could help make such a difference to someone’s life.
“Your positive action could literally change that person’s whole future.”
