Hakeeb Adelakun's penalty cancelled out Shane McLoughlin's spot kick - Salford City

Salford City will travel to top of the league Walsall this weekend in the hopes of turning their league form.

The Ammies who will be walking into the fixture with only point from their last three league games will be looking to reignite their promotion push.

Karl Robinsons’ side who were flying towards the end of 2024 with six wins in seven, have been struggling to recapture their defensive brilliance.

The Ammies will be hoping to turn their results around after going four games without a win – with their last victory coming against MK Dons on 4 January 2025.

Since the clubs last win, they have had a difficult January losing 8-0 to Manchester City, Fleetwood 2-0, Cheltenham 2-1, and sharing points against Newport County, 1-1.

The Ammies were unable to get a win despite pressing for a victory in their previous fixture after going down to 10-men, with Tyrese Fornah being sent off in the 75th minute.

However, despite going down to 10-men the result against Newport County was ultimately decided in the first half with both sides scoring a penalty.

But despite there poor run of form, there will be no better place for the Ammies to relight their season with a victory against top of the league Walsall.

A win for Karl Robinsons’ will not only reignite their promotion push, but also assert Salford City as true candidates for the playoff positions.

And what better opportunity for Salford City, than with a win against the league leaders who are also in a bad run of form – losing their last two games.

The Saddlers have been on their worst run of form of the season, which have seen them lose to both Bradford City, 3-0, and Fleetwood, 2-0.

Although the defeats will come as a concern, they will be safe knowing, they still remain top of the league nine points clear of second place Doncaster Rovers.

But despite Walsall’s league position, the Ammies will be hoping to use the home sides recent run of form as an opportunity to walk away with all three points.

Karl Robison’s side will be travelling to The Poundland Bescot Stadium, knowing that the two sides have met 11 times in League Two, with Salford winning six of those.

And travelling to the midlands, the Ammies will be hoping to get revenge for their previous meeting where they lost 2-0 at home – with Nathan Lowe and Charlie Lakin on the scoresheet.

Karl Robinsons’ side will be hopeful to start February in positive form as they travel to Walsall for the 3pm kickoff at The Poundland Bescot Stadium.
