Salford brewery Seven Brothers has closed its Middlewood Locks beerhouse after six years.

Seven Brothers opened its second beerhouse in Middlewood Locks in 2019, after the success of its first location in Ancoats.

The bar served a wide range of house brand IPAs, pale ales and lager alongside a range of spirits from its partner brand Four Sisters Distillery.

The craft brewery was formed by the seven McAvoy brothers from Salford in 2014, their inspiration coming from their father who would home brew when they were children.

The business has continued to grow locally, and its special edition Salford Lads and Girls Club beer helped to raise the £250,000 needed to save the iconic youth centre last year.

But despite the community support the Middlewood Locks outlet has closed.

One of the owners of Seven Brothers, Keith McVoy said: “We have chosen to consolidate our sites to focus on the most profitable venues and our successful brewery operation.

“We will be sad to move from the Middlewood Locks site. However we are looking forward to the year ahead as we continue to grow our business.”

The bar was a popular spot among residents, sitting alongside the Manchester canal. It hosted events such as live sports and quiz nights every Wednesday. The food menu included burgers, kebab and pizzas.

The Seven Brothers bars in Media City will remain open featuring both live and bar music, along with the 11 Central bar with its Salford Quays waterside view. The company’s brewery and taproom is at Unit 63, Waybridge Enterprise Centre, Daniel Adamson Road, Salford,
