2D needle felting

Salford residents will be able to attend a craft and social event focusing on 2D needle felting will be taking place this February.

The event hosted at the Salford Museum and Art Gallery will be open to guest of ages 16 and above, being welcomes to a workshop session. 

The social event will be led by local artist Caroline Coates, and will run on February 12 between 5:30pm and 7:30pm. 

Those who attend will be able to focus on 2D needle felting, a creative craft that involves shaping and sculpting wool into objects and 2D artworks.

And residents will be able to use the special felting needle that will be used to stab and agitate wool fibres, so they join and bond together.

Residents who visit the work shop will be guided by Coates who will be giving an in-depth step-by-step ensuring that customers leave satisfied. 

Coates is an artist and educator based in Salford who specialises in illustration, community and workshops with over 20 years’ experience of working in community arts and arts development.

She works with Creative Coati, who offers diverse art and craft workshops across Salford, Bolton and Bury.  

Lauren Ainsworth, a customer who has been too multiple workshops said: “I’ve taken part in three of Caroline’s classes now over the past couple of years and I’ve enjoyed every single one!

It’s a lovely atmosphere and she always makes you feel supported whilst getting your craft on.” 

The event will be priced at £12, and will be open to anyone aged 16 and over –  and due to limited spaces booking in advance has been recommend. 

Guests who attend will be able to enjoy the workshop, and will also be provided with a complementarily tea and coffee , welcoming a relaxed feeling to do your 2D needle felting.
