Residents will be welcomed to attend Salford Quays this weekend for Lunar New Year celebrations.
In celebration of the Luna New Year, the year of the Snake, Kargo MKT will be hosting a market in partnership with Hong Kong CIC.
The celebrations will be hosted on Saturday 25 and 26 January, as well as February 1 2025.
Throughout the course of the Luna New Year celebrations, residents will also be able to get involved in a variety of markets, workshops, cultural and kids’ events.
One of the events will be free to attend, and will allow guests to meet Choi San Yeh, aka the god of prosperity, who will be running an event from 11am to 4pm.
The special meet and greet with The Choi San Yeh will aim to bring good fortune, blessings and prosperity.
The meeting will allow those in attendance to be a part of the traditional culture have photos and receive a red packet!
Guests will be able to attend a free handwoven lucky ornament workshop from January 25 from 12pm to 2pm – with tickets being found here.
Children will also be invited to a crafts club on January 26 between 10am to 12pm, where they will be able to make and design their own snakes with pens, beads, pipe cleaners.
The free event will be open to all ages, with tickets being able to be found here.
Children will also be welcomed to embrace the culture, with a Bao Making Workshop being led on February 1 from 11am to 12pm.
The food workshop will be the perfect opportunity to make and create lovely Sweet BBQ Pork Cha Siu Bao – tickets to the event will cost £8.30 and can be found here.
Amongst the variety of workshops and celebrations, guests will also be able to be entertained by the Lion Dance Extravaganza.
The half an hour show will celebrate Chinese traditions that will bring fortune and scare away evil spirits.
The energetic performance will be create a lively and festive atmosphere.
And with all the events occurring across the two weekends, families will be able to explore food deals and an array of festive dishes in selected kitchens until 12th February 2025.
