Salford City

Salford City will be looking to bounce back this weekend as they turn their attention to Fleetwood Town.

The Ammies will host The Fishermen this Saturday as they look to maintain their promotion charge currently sat in 3rd place.

The fixture will also be a good opportunity for the players to rebuild confidence following the  8-0 defeat to Manchester City in the FA Cup Third Round.

Karl Robinson’s side were beaten heavily, going into halftime at 3-0, with Man City putting five into the Salford net in the second half.

Despite the defeat, Robinson remained realistic following the defeat as he said: “Collectively we’ll just dust ourselves off and go again.

“We will learn from today, and we will look forward to next week.”

The Ammies have a game in hand over Crewe Alexandra, that could see the side move into second place – with every fixture now becoming as important as the last.

Approaching the fixture against Fleetwood Town, the Ammies have been able to prove their defensive resiliency only losing once and conceding one goal in eight league games.

The 3pm kick off at the Peninsula Stadium will be a great opportunity to rebuild the confidence of the Salford players, with Fleetwood only winning once in last five games.

Although Fleetwood will be walking into the fixture hoping to turn their form, and following a well rested break – having not played since New Year’s Day due to postponements.

The rest would have given new Head Coach Pete Wild time to work with his team and hopefully lift his side further up the table.

Fleetwood fans will also be hoping to get revenge on the home side, with Salford stealing a point very late on in a 2-2 draw.

The Ammies were able to salvage a point after scoring a late 98th minute equaliser thanks to substitute Francis Okoronkwo.

Salford City despite taking the lead in the 18th minute were unable to hold on, with The Fishermen replying with two goals to take the lead.

However, since that rescued point in October the Ammies have gone on a new path, having won 10 of the last 14 games.

Karl Robinson will hoping that this side can maintain their impressive league form and continue to hold a strong position in this promotion push.

The game will kick off at 3pm at the Peninsula Stadium – with more information about the fixture being found here.
