Plans for a 426 bedroom co-living scheme on Worrall Street in Ordsall have been submitted.

The proposed development will bring hundreds of new co-living homes to the brownfield site, with a new river side acoommodation.

The site will aim to bring a new development to the area, and prioritising public housing for the local community and key workers.

Its co-living concept combines private living space, alongside best in class shared amenity spaces to provide a new superior living experience for people currently living in rented housing.

As well as being accommodate housing for multiple occupation (HMOs) who cannot afford to buy.

The brand new building will also plan to have dedicated areas for socialising and working, with areas for leisure, dining and relaxing.

Worrall Street will also have a winter garden, pergola, gym spaces and wellness suite – as well as a shared penthouse space and roof terraces will provide vibrant social spaces.

The co-living development proposed by re:shape has moved a step closer as a planning application has been submitted following a public consultation in the summer.

re:shape’s Development Director Robbie Nightingale said: “We are grateful for the opportunity to bring forward a thriving new community and building underpinned by an open-door policy for the local area.

“This will give young people, key workers and existing residents of the city access to highly sought after, quality homes that they can afford and be proud to call home.”

Urban landscaping will provide a new pedestrian link between Worrall Street and the River Irwell and widen the existing riverside walkway.

The riverside walkway will aimto improve connectivity to key economic and tourism hubs such as Peel Park and Salford University with Media City.

The new developments will also be adding to a number of new additions to Ordsall and Salford.

This was echoed by Ben Tabiner, Associate Director at Buttress Architects, who said: “Worrall Street represents an exciting opportunity to revitalise a key brownfield site on Salford’s riverside.

“It not only provides quality homes but also enriches the city’s residential offering, creating a sense of belonging and community for all who live there.”
