A trustee of the Caritas Diocese of Salford has been honoured with an OBE in King Charles’ New Year’s Honours List.
Eamonn O’Neal, who is a trustee for the Caritas Diocese of Salford was recognised in the list for his work in the North West.
Being listed in the honours for his work and ‘services to charitable causes and to people with disabilities in North West England’.
An OBE (Order of the British Empire) rewards contributions to the arts and sciences, work with charitable and welfare organisations, and public service outside the civil service.
Working with the charity, he has been recognised on the list, and continues to embody a true member in the community.
Eamonn who currently holds the position of High Sheriff of Greater Manchester, works with many charities in the region including the Caritas Diocese of Salford.
He said: “I’m very grateful that this honour reflects the amazing the work done by the many varied charities I’ve been associated with over the years.
“I’m so proud of the work being done by the diocese, which holds the spiritual development of all our communities close to our hearts.”
Eamonn continued: “At Caritas Salford our vision is to support and advocate on behalf of people experiencing poverty, homelessness, displacement or other disadvantages across Greater Manchester and Lancashire.
“Every day we work towards helping people live a dignified life to the full. Faith in Action is one of my favourite things.”
Working with the Caritas Diocese of Salford and other charities, he said: “It remains a privilege to help in whatever way I can, whether that’s a trustee, patron, chair or supporter.”
Working for BBC Radio Manchester, ITV Granada and the Manchester Evening News he also credited his roles to help giving back to the community.
Eamonn said : “I’ve also been in the enviable position of working… in positions that have allowed me to help publicise the amazing work done by selfless people for the benefit of communities.”
