Salford City will travel to the Etihad Stadium as they prepare for a historic third round FA Cup tie against Manchester City.
The Ammies will be playing in front of 53,400 fans, with the Salford away end being completely sold out ahead of the tie.
The FA Cup fixture against the English Champions, and will be the first time Salford compete in the third round, as they look to become competition ‘giant killers’.
Salford City will be walking into unchartered territory, after winning the second round fixture against Cheltenham (2-0).
Since that victory in the FA Cup, Karl Robinsons side have gone from strength-to-strength walking into the fixture unbeaten in the last six games.
The Ammies have shown a lot of defensive resiliency throughout December, with the League Two side only conceding one goal in their previous seven fixtures.
Salford fans will make the five mile travel from the Peninsula Stadium, with the fixture kicking off at 17:45 on BBC One.
The fixture will be the biggest game in Salford’s club history, with the Ammies only playing in the Northern Premier League only 10 years ago.
Karl Robinsons Salford City side will be hoping to shock Premier League Champions and seven time FA Cup winners Manchester City.
Following the most recent win against MK Dons and strong form Karl Robinson admitted that he wouldn’t change the way his side have played.
The Head Coach said: “We’ll play the same way. My team has an identity that I’ve always had over 15 years doing this now.
“I’ve always been quite true to who we are, regardless of the opposition.”
He continued: “Every time we’ve done it we’ve been true to who we are. We’ll do Salford, and that’s who we are. We are true to who we are and our area, and who our owners are and what we want to be.
“We are hardworking, we are industrious, one of the words when I came in was relentless.”
The Ammies will walking into the fixture with confidence, hoping to utilise their recent December form.
And why shouldn’t they? As Pep Guardiola’s side are currently going through their worst run of form since the manager took over.
The Cityzens have only won three of the last 15 games, with two of those wins coming recently against Leicester (2-0) and West Ham (4-1).
Manchester City’s poor form has put the club 6th in the Premier League, and the FA Cup may be the only chance for the club to pickup silverware this season.
And despite the clubs difficult run, the Ammies will have to be cautious with Manchester City aiming to get three consecutive wins for the first time since October.
The game will kickoff at 17:45 this Saturday 11 January, and fans will be able to travel to game with coaches leaving from The Peninsula Stadium at 3:45pm on Saturday – information can be found here.
