Salford City Stockport County Manager of the Month nomination

Salford City Head Coach Karl Robinson has been nominated for Manager of the Month after the Ammies only conceded one goal in December.

The Salford Head Coach was one of the League Two nominations following a very successful Christmas period, with the Ammies winning six of seven games.

Robinson has been nominated alongside Grimsby Town’s David Artell, Mat Sadler at Walsall, and Bromley Manager Andy Woodman.

The nomination should come as no surprise, as the Ammies have climbed the League Two only conceding one goal throughout December.

And it is the defensive resiliency that has sent Salford further up the table, with Karl Robinson’s side currently sat third.

The defensive improvement of Karl Robinson’s side has also seen the nomination of Salford defender Luke Garbutt.

The Ammies defender was able to get a nomination alongside Ellis Landolo at Colchester United, Bromley’s Omar Sowunmi, and Walsall forward Nathan Lowe.

The Salford defender has been an essential part of the teams six clean sheets, and was also able to score his first goal of the season.

Garbutt was able to score against Barrow on Boxing Day, with his free-kick looping to the back post, and was the opener for Salford’s 3-0 win.

Throughout the month, Salford City were able to climb the league table beating Harrogate, Notts County, Accrington Stanley, Barrow, and Morecambe.

Karl Robinsons side only defeat came against Gillingham 1-0 on December 7, but have proved to shake it off winning six games in a row.

The strong form of Salford will also be beneficial as they turn their attention to their FA Cup rivals Manchester City.

The Ammies were able to walk into the month with the positive result in the FA Cup against Cheltenham (2-0) on November 30 – with it being the first time Salford have advanced into the third round.

With eyes set on the weekend fixture against Manchester City, the decisions for manager and player of the month will be announced on Friday.
