A Salford rugby club has recently received support for a new facility that will help youth development.
The facility that stands at the Salford City Roosters Rugby League Club was donated by Eric Wright Construction and Wernick Hire.
The official opening ceremony was attended by the Deputy City Mayor of Salford, Councillor Jack Youd, along with representatives from Eric Wright Construction, Wernick Hire, and members of Salford City Roosters.
The new development includes a 32ft classroom unit and a 20ft storage unit that have both been fully refurbished.
The space was installed in October, and will act as an essential space for classroom-based training and much-needed storage.
The facility will also aim to enhance the club’s ability to serve food and drinks on match days.
As Councillor Jack Youd, Deputy City Mayor of Salford, said: “This is an important moment for rugby in Salford, I’m very excited to see the Salford City Roosters benefiting from such generous support.
“The new training facilities will not only help the club continue to grow but will also provide young people in our communities with a space to learn, train, and thrive.”
The donation made towards the club will enable us to further enrich the matchday experience and provide additional resources for young players.
Following the donation club chairman Dave Campbell said: “This facility means that we can offer out our outdoor space for training courses and other events and we don’t have the club house opened and staffed.
“This will be useful for the events and our long standing partnership, it isn’t just a white elephant it is something that serves a purpose for us now.”
He added: “Once the season starts it will allow the children to do classroom work, and be able to evaluate the teams performance and help develop their skills.”
“It is multipurpose, and allows us to have different events on in both the club house and the unit, so it is incredibly useful.”
He continued by adding: “The generosity shown by these businesses is invaluable. This new classroom cabin will play a crucial role in promoting the health and wellbeing of young people in Salford.
“Partnerships like these allow us to make a real difference in the community.”

The Salford City Roosters are based in Eccles and have set the mission of being a club that fosters the next generation of rugby talent.
The club currently have 11 boys and girls teams from Under 6’s to our Men’s team in the North West Men’s League – and will continue to grow into the future.
As Dave continued: “I would encourage anyone who wants to get involved to get involved. We are always looking for anyone to maximise our space and work with us.
“We want to make this a place where anyone can come and play rugby.”
The club is also the fastest growing rugby league club in the region, and have been teaching their players important values.
