Police in Little Hulton have been sharing the festive spirit in the community offering gifts and a Christmas dinner for those in need.
The Salford police have been sourcing gifts from the community, and have been delivering them to people in the area that may be struggling this Christmas.
Throughout December the neighbourhood officers were able to collect 200 Christmas packages, in the hope of building stronger connections in the local community.
The team Little Hulton will also be visiting care homes and vulnerable victims of crime in the area to host Christmas dinners, providing a friendly face and a hot meal.
The festive action from the Salford police saw them also offer to help the dedicated staff prepare and serve food, before joining in with a range of festive activities with all in attendance.
Sergeant Helen Matthews from our Little Hulton neighbourhood team said: “Christmas can often be a lonely time of year for some people in our community, so it is important for us to do all we can to try and change this.
“It was a great way for us to reach out to different parts of the community and build stronger connections with people we might not otherwise come into contact with.”
And this proves true with a new report from Age UK sharing that nearly 1.4 million people will be eating dinner alone on Christmas Day.
The efforts from the police in the community will be offering the chance to be surrounded by people this Christmas.
And this was encouraged by Sergeant Helen Matthews, as she added: “Ultimately, this is what neighbourhood policing is all about, so it was time well spent for the team, and I hope we managed to make a difference to their day.”
