A Salford football team and pub have teamed up to support a local children’s charity’s Toy Appeal for Christmas.
The fundraiser has been made by both the Dutton Arms pub and Winton Wanderers, who will be doing a collection for the charity for Wipe Your Tears.
The Wipe your Tears charity, first started in the Northwest of England, are committed to supporting and helping children who are in safe houses through domestic violence or abuse as well as terminally ill children and their loved ones.
The fundraiser will see drop off points set up across Salford, that will hope to encourage people to donate ahead of the festive period.
This year they are dedicated to giving children the chance to open a present on Christmas day that they otherwise wouldn’t have had the chance of receiving.
As the charity said: “Every child should be able to smile on Christmas day.”
The collaborative effort has been made by the football club Winton Wanderers who have many teams from ages from 4 and upwards.
With many children and parents associated to the football club they are hoping to collect as many gifts as possible to brighten up many children’s Christmas days.
The collection for toys has already seen two sacks filled, and they will hoping to fill as many as they can before the deadline of December 13.
The Winton Wanderers are a football club based here in Salford, they have many teams of all ages from four and upwards, and this year they are teamed up with the Dutton Arms to collect as many gifts as they can.
And with the Dutton Arms based in Eccles, they are offering themselves up to be the drop off point for the toy appeal.
As the owner of the Dutton Arms said: “We do everything for our community.
“We are asking for your help by buying an extra little gift or donation and popping it in to us in the labelled box.
“We know times are hard for everyone but there’s always someone worse off we do have a deadline for these gifts which will be picked up on 13th December , just a little gift to put a little smile on a child’s face priceless.”
The drop off point at the pub will be one of the locations available for donations, with the Winton Wanderers are also using their match days as drop offs as well.
The annual toy appeal is a great success every year, helping to get many children locally presents to bring a big smiles to their faces.
If you have a spare toy or are able to buy another present donate it at either of these locations to put a smile on a child’s face this Christmas.
