Salford Red Devils fans are celebrating news that the club have been thrown a financial lifeline.
Super League have stepped in with an advance payment to see the club through “short-term cash flow” problems.
Fans all over city have welcomed the news.
Shirley Bradshaw, chair of the Salford Red Devils Supporters Trust, said: “We don’t know the specifics yet, buts it’s fantastic news and I’m sure all the local fans are really excited going into the new season.”
Uncertainty over ownership of the club’s Salford Community Stadium ground has made it difficult for them to do deals over sponsorship and commercial opportunities.
The ground issue was resolved in September when the stadium was bought by Salford City Council but the period in limbo left the club short of income.
The support from the Super League clubs now gives the Red Devils time to rebuild investment partners to support the long-term ambitions of the club.
They have now pledged to become a commercially viable entity, and work to achieve IMG Grade A status having received the lowest IMG rating in the top division ahead of next season, scoring 13.97.
The Red Devils say they will use the lifeline to put the club at the “heart of the community as a club that the City of Salford can be proud of”.
CEO Paul King said: “Thanks to RL Commercial for working with us on this matter.
“This affords time for the Club to consider all investment options and to continue to collaborate with the council and our friends at Sale Sharks to support the purchase of the stadium.
“We are hopeful this is imminent, at which point we look forward to progressing the build of our advertising acreen, to provide the club with an additional revenue source.”
Other plans include two new kit partners for the upcoming season and a commitment to a five-year commercial strategy.
Chief operating officer Claire Butters said: “The front of shirt partnership is one we are all really excited for.
“We know we have work to do commercially. This is a big club with a rich heritage. Our job is to re-establish Salford Red Devils as the Club of Salford and build something special here that people love and want to be a part of.”
She added: “The Salford spirit knows no limits and that’s the mindset we’re adopting.”
The club is planning a fan forum and Q and A in February 2025, to explain more about the club’s financial situation.
