Marshall Heys becomes the youngest player in the history of the FA Cup history - Salford City

The magic of the FA Cup looks to return to Salford City this weekend as they hope to advance into the Third Round of the FA Cup for the first ever time.

The Ammies will line up against their League Two rivals Cheltenham Town, hosting them at the Peninsula Stadium.

Salford’s hopeful advancement in the competition and have the opportunity to come up against Premier League rivals in early January.

Karl Robinsons side have had a success time in the FA Cup so far, with Matty Lund’s brace being the difference against Shrewsbury Town.

The victory against the League One side will be encouraging for the Ammies, as they have already beat the travelling side earlier in the season.

As Salford forward Hakeeb Adelakun scored twice for the Ammies as they were able to come from behind to win 2-1 in September.

Following the first round victory against Shrewsbury, Karl Robinson said: “Today I’m really happy and it is a day I will remember for a long time for different reasons, one that I really enjoyed.”

Despite this, Cheltenham will also be travelling to the game with confidence.

The Robins were also able to dispose of League One opposition in the first round of the competition, beating Rotherham United 3-1 away from home.

Cheltenham are also coming off of a good result against Tranmere Rovers on Friday 22 November, as Joel Colwill’s 89th minute strike from the edge of the box secured a 1-0 win.

Despite this Karl Robinson’s side will be optimistic, as both clubs currently sit in League Two level on points (21) as well as level goal difference (-3).

Although the Ammies have played one game less this season after their fixture last weekend against Bromley was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

And the postponed fixture could be more favourable, as Salford have had more chance to rest and prepare for this historical fixture.

Saturday will certainly be a day to remember for the fans inside the Peninsula Stadium if Salford are able to put themselves into the hat for the third round.

And will look to add more magic into their competition run, already making history when 15-year-old Marshall Heys became the youngest player to appear in the competition.

At 15 years, 2 months, and 6 days, Heys came of the bench in the 90th minute walking onto the pitch to seal the victory against the League One rivals.

Salford City FC vs Cheltenham Town will kick off at 3pm on Saturday 30 November at the Peninsula Stadium, with fans certainly hopeful to reach the third round.
