A Salford care home enjoyed a visit from Salford MP Rebecca Long Bailey on Friday as she met residents during UK Parliament Week.
The residents were visited by the Salford MP on November 22 as she spoke to her about life at Pendleton Court Care Home.
The visit was a part of UK Parliament Week, which took place this year from November 18 to November 24.
The week aims to spread the word about what Parliament is and the roles of local dignitaries, what Parliament and local dignitaries do.
As well as having the opportunity to see how individuals can get involved, act and make an impact on the issues they care about.
During UK Parliament Week, the Salford MP visited the HC-One owned care home in Pendleton and was able to learn their positive changes.
The changes in the home include the company’s investment in colleagues, technology and the environment and funding for Specialist Dementia training for colleagues and community networks.
During the visit, Rebecca Long Bailey MP received a tour around the 58 bedded residential, nursing and residential dementia care home, including the hairdressing salon, dining room, tearoom, lounge, bedrooms and gardens.
And she was able to speak to residents who were busy making Christmas cards, and was presented one that they had made for her.
As Rebecca Long Bailey MP shared: “This is my first Christmas card of the year, and I will treasure this.”
Following the event, Rebecca Long Bailey shared her experience of the day, she said: “It was a lovely warm welcome at Pendleton Court Care Home again this morning.
“I had chance to talk politics with some of the fantastic residents, who were also making Christmas cards, and staff including lovely Lesley who has worked there for 14 years.
“It is clear they care deeply about residents, and manager Anoj is very proud of his team, and he is constantly considering how he can improve facilities for residents.
“I am very grateful to them for hosting me.”
Throughout her visit, she was able to join residents in a variety of activities that included taking part in online Q&A sessions, quizzes and lively debates.
As well as debating issues and holding votes, creating petitions, holding themed assemblies and council elections, baking and crafting.
The event was well received as Anoj Kochera, Home Manager at HC-One’s Pendleton Court Care Home, added: “We were delighted to welcome MP Rebecca Long Bailey to our home during UK Parliament Week.
“Everyone had a great time, chatting and discussing key issues they care about and what actions can be taken to overcome them.”
