The family of 25-year-old Lewis Simpson have paid tribute to a ‘talented and ambitious man’ following the fatal road traffic collision.
The fatal collision happened at 1pm, on Wednesday 20 November 2024, when he was cycling around the roundabout of the M602 and the A57, commonly known as Regent Road.
Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, Lewis Simpson died shortly after due to the injuries he sustained.
Following the incident his family have paid tribute to the 25-year-old man.
His family said: “Our beloved son Lewis was a talented and ambitious man, who had so many plans and dreams for the future.
“At home, he was an endlessly cheeky, and loving son who valued family time with his Mum, Michaela, Dad, Ian and siblings, Evan and Lewis, especially around a Sunday lunch.”
His family continued to pay tribute, by adding: “With his many, many friends, he was a loyal and trusted companion and a collaborator on many musical journeys.
“The hundreds of messages we have received, all have the same themes of his funny and loving personality, his dedicated and loyal friendship, and his generosity with his musical talents – supporting many other fellow artists on their journeys.”
The family also shared that Lewis had only just graduated this summer with a First-Class Honours degree in Electronic Music Production, and “was so excited about what the future held.”
They continued: “Lewis will leave a massive hole in the lives of many, but he achieved more in his short life than many do in 70 years.
“We know he knew every day just how much he was loved and how proud we his family are of him.”
Following the tragic loss of Lewis Simpson, many will continue to pay tribute to the young man.
In the current time the police have asked for any additional information.
As Detective Constable Steven Pennington, from the serious collision investigation unit of GMP, said: “We are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this to please come forward if we haven’t already spoken to you.”
He is keen to speak to any individuals who may have CCTV, dashcam, or mobile phone footage of the incident and the moments leading up to it.
As he continued: “This is to ensure we fully understand the circumstances, and can bring answers to the family and friends who are having to come to terms with losing their loved one.”
