Salford’s yellow weather warning has been removed after a night of snowfall.
The Met Office advised the residents of Salford to stay alert to icy surfaces and plan upcoming journeys accordingly. Road closures and delayed public transport were expected to be a risk.
Salford has since had the warning removed with a reduced chance of snowfall carrying on into the following day. However, the temperature is expected to reach zero degrees again tonight, getting colder into Wednesday morning, with windchill making it feel as if it were -2 degrees by the end of the day.
Warmer temperatures are anticipated to return over the weekend. Both Saturday and Sunday are expected to experience temperatures as high as 10 degrees, but with possible lows of six and three degrees respectively. Wind speeds are likely to peak on Saturday, with predicted gusts of up to 48 miles per hour.
The cold temperatures are expected to be accompanied by intermittent sun and clouds through the week. Salford is also expected to receive increasing amounts of rain as the week progresses, with a low likelihood for more snow.
