Salford Red Devils winger has been listed and nominated for this years International Rugby League Golden Boot award.

Red Devils Nene MacDonald, has been shortlisted for the award after an amazing debut season at the club.

The Salford winger has been influential since signing from Leeds Rhinos at the start of the 2024 season, with his impressive display being enough to be nominated for the IRL Golden Boot.

The Red Devils player was named part of the Betfred Super League Dream Team back in September following a successful season of performances.

Macdonald was a clear contributor to many of the teams wins and help lead them to finish fourth on the table, and now joins four other Super League players being nominated for the award.

One of the other nominated for the IRL Golden Boot is Esan Marsters, who is set to join the Salford Red Devils for the 2025 season.

Both players are representing different nations within International Rugby League, with Macdonald representing Papua New Guinea and Marsters representing Cook Islands.

Both the centers have had a impressive year within rugby league and either one could snatch the award.

The award will be judged by three former international rugby league players, those being Australia’s Darren Lockyer and Petro Civoniceva, and former England star  James Graham.

Following the release of the nominations, Troy Grant, IRL chair, said: “International rugby league has never been more competitive, and this is reflected by the players in contention for the IRL 2024 Golden Boot.”

The announcement of the nomination has been shared, but both Salford Red Devils players will have the awards to look forward to with the winner being announced in December.
