A late night worldwide running event around Salford is set to return next week to help raise funds to cure paralysis.
The event that will be held in Eccles, will join cities such as Tokyo, Madrid, New York and Sydney in the global Run in the Dark charity run on Wednesday 13th November.
The event is expected to see 25,000 runners participate in the event, with more than 50 cities hosting 5km and 10km runs.
In previous years, the run has been held around Salford Quays with it first being held at the Etihad Stadium in 2018.
Starting at 8pm, runners will be able to pay £24 with the additional admin fees – and will take place in Eccles with the loop beginning and ending in Eccles College, before finishing with a circuit around the Swinton Greenway Park.
The event will aim to raise awareness and fundraiser to end paralysis in our lifetime and is the flagship fundraising event for the Mark Pollock Trust.
The trust was created by blind runner Mark Pollock, who suffered life changing injuries in a fall in 2010 which left him paralysed.
Before the life changing injuries, Mark became the first blind athlete to race to the South Pole in 1998.
Mark shared his focus on the charity, he said: “Run in the Dark was created to support me in those early days after my accident.
“Since then, with the help of so many people, we have been involved in projects to take spinal research out of the lab and get it to the clinic that are now valued at over $100 million.”
Mark continued: “Millions of paralysed people worldwide don’t have the option to walk or to run or even to stand up but we can help change that as you join 25,000 people worldwide at Run in the Dark this November.
“All fundraising will support our charity partner Collaborative Cures to bring people together to cure paralysis in our lifetime.”
