FA Cup fixture - Curtis Tilt

Salford City will take on Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup, as they hope to advance to the second round.

The Ammies will look continue their unbeaten run, going into the first round without a defeat in the last four fixtures.

Salford were able to rescue a point in Tuesday night’s game at Fleetwood Town and Frankie Okoronkwo’s late equaliser with the last kick of the game securing a point.

The high spirits in the dressing room will hope to take the club into the next round.

And these seems like a possibility, with Shrewsbury currently having only one win in their last five matches leaving them sat 23rd in the League One.

The opportunity to advance will be a massive opportunities, with the team captain Curtis Tilt speaking ahead of the fixture.

Tilt said: “The lads are pleased with the points that we’ve got.

“Obviously, we’ve drawn a few we would like to think that we could have gone on and won, but we are unbeaten now for quite a few games, so spirits are high in camp.”

And despite the recent travel in the past few fixtures, the captain remained optimistic ahead of the FA Cup fixture, he said: “We’ve had a few long journeys and then Fleetwood on a Tuesday night, but everyone is buzzing and happy and ready to go.”

The recent turn of form have put the Ammies 12th in the league, and they continue to grow as a team, as Tilt added: “We’re a new group and we’re still learning what we’re all about as a squad together.

“We are building as a squad and this is what we’re trying to build here, a foundation of where if we can’t win the game, at least we try and come away with a draw, especially away from home.”

And the captain spoke on the club’s official podcast this week ahead of the fixture: “I’m looking forward to Saturday now and I’m enjoying being the captain of this football club and really enjoying the role, trying to help a few of the younger lads here.

“It will be a tough game obviously, they’re in League One so in the league above us.

“I think we can put on a good performance and the FA Cup is special isn’t it, so hopefully we can get ourselves in the hat and then look forward to seeing who we can get next.”

The fixture will commence from 3pm, and Karl Robinsons side will be looking to make history in the competition and go further than any former Salford side.
