Salford’s new Youth Zone has taken a step further reaching a agreement and confirmation of their first Cornerstone Patrons.
The Salford Youth Zone (SYZ) will receive pledged support from the Preston Family.
The pledged support for the SYZ, will see The Preston Family Charitable Settlement provide help during the early developments over a four-year period.
The support from the family routes back to their strong ties to Salford, as they look to benefit the future generations of the city.
As Anthony Preston was born in Eccles, whilst Margaret Preston comes from Little Hulton.
The family have been well-known to support various charitable and community services across the local area, and have provided donations, investment and have held trustee positions.
As Anthony Preston shared: “We’re delighted to support the Salford Youth Zone because Margaret and I are Salfordians – Margaret was born in Little Hulton and I’m from Eccles.
“Both towns are a stone’s throw from the new Youth Zone site.”
And what better than offer their support for the SYZ, with the facility promising to make a safe and inclusive environment.
This was also shared by Margaret Preston who spoke on their excitement to see SYZ’s impact on young people.
She said: “It is wonderful to think how many young people in Salford will have the opportunity to experience all that the new Youth Zone will offer them.
“Anthony and I are delighted to offer our support to SYZ.”
The SYZ construction began earlier this year, and is set to open in the summer of 2025, and be the perfect place for educational, recreational, and developmental opportunities.
Open seven-days-a-week the youth zone will offer over 20 activities for young people of all ages.
The youth facility currently receive support from various patron contributions, that combine to create 70% of the annual running costs.
The much needed support is vital to the succession of the youth zone.
And with the announcement of the Preston Family Charitable Settlement being a cornerstone patron, it will be a massive support for the future.
As Adam Farricker, CEO of Salford Youth Zone said: “This partnership marks a significant milestone in our collective efforts to empower young people and transform communities.
“By working collaboratively together, we will build a brighter future for young people across the city.”
The youth zone will be located on Belvedere Road in Pendleton, and will be an amazing facility that will provide Salford’s young people with somewhere safe to go, something positive to do and someone trusted to talk to.
