A Salford charity has launched workshops to help refugees from all backgrounds integrate into the community.

Visible Outcomes, a charity which was developed to help migrant and refugee populations in Salford is aiming to “embrace, educate and integrate” people of all ages.

The services provided include housing advice, access to welfare benefits, educational classes and poverty advice.

Ifran Syed, information and guidance advisor, said: “We have been very successful so far, 60 people received level two health and social care training, and around 50 are now employed.

“The sessions focus on basic IT training, sending emails and creating CVs.

“These are all really important for employability, and a lot of our members who ask for help do not have a phone or simply cannot use one.”

The sessions on Mondays and Thursdays help a diverse age group, from five to 65 years old, and from various ethnicities and genders.

Ifran added: “It is a large range of people from different backgrounds, ethnicities and genders.

“We helped a woman who was 60+ to find a GP after 1 and a half years, this is the type of thing we do for people.”

Syed also expresses the importance of addressing mental health issues before focusing on employment.

He said: “Many individuals who come to us suffer from mental health problems, we provide professional help for this primarily before helping with employability.”

“Then getting the skills they need to become employed, is getting their confidence back and with that everything follows.”

There will be drop-in advice service workshops on Mondays from 10 am to 1 pm and on Thursdays by appointment.

The support services will be held on Cross Lane at The SDA Church.
