Two brews Salford charity

A Salford rough sleepers charity has asked for donations of essentials with winter looming.

Two Brews distributes thousands of hot packs as temperatures drop and needs more urgently.

The charity currently feeds homeless people seven evenings a week, and focuses on giving out hot meals, cakes, treats, crisps, hot drinks, cold drinks, clothing and sleeping bags.

Two Brews hopes to make valuable contributions to the community, while treating all people they meet with respect, dignity, and zero judgement.

The support the volunteers show is essential to catch homeless people between 6pm to 8pm each night with provisions.

Co-founder Amanda Thompson said: “If anyone asks us of anything specific they need, then we take it out to them the next night.”

However, as winter is quickly approaching the charity is in essential need to help keep people living on the streets as warm as possible.

She continued: “At the minute, we really need things that are essential for winter; hats, gloves, coats, joggers, hoodies, all things like that.

“You know that stuff to keep you warm through the night.”

Hand warmers are particularly popular.

She said: “They don’t only put them in their gloves and in their pockets, but also in their sleeping bags at night to keep warm.

“We’re going through 1000s of them at the moment, and they’re probably the cheapest thing you can buy that are the most needed, especially this winter.”

The charity is also appealing for chocolates and sweets for extra energy during its annual Christmas pop-up this December 7.

She said: “We bring the party street kind-of vibe to Manchester and help the community homeless get together with the community and bring them all together as one.”
