The Lionesses will head up the A56 to Gigg Lane to face Bury this weekend in a bottom of the table showdown.

The fixture will be a fiery one, with just a point separating the two sides after the Lionesses drew 1-1 against Curzon Ashton.

The draw meant that Salford have now dropped down to the 9th in the Northwest Regional League table.

The 1-1 draw on Sunday saw Salford go behind with Curzon dominating first-half possession, as they deservedly took the lead with five minutes before halftime.

Despite going a goal being the Lionesses were able to claw their way back into the game as Jess Battle equalized with a powerful header.

However, there was an interesting subplot at half-time as the Curzon Captain refused to return to the pitch after a dressing-room row with her teammates.

Despite intense Curzon Ashton pressure, Salford were able to hang on and collect a point for their travels.

Curzon’s head coach Danielle Young was left frustrated, as said: “There were some [decisions] where it didn’t go our way, and it possibly should have.”

With the points shared after the weekend, Salford will now travel up the A56 to Bury on Sunday.

The two sides will battle it out, in what expects to be fiery affair with the sides meeting earlier in the season with a 1-1 draw.

Bury currently sit one place above Salford near the foot of the table, with Salford captain, Emily Hutton speaking ahead of the physical figure: “It’s another tough test to look forward to.

“We got a draw out of them at home so hopefully we can progress a little bit further this time and get what we deserve out of the game.”

And Salford will have to take some confidence going into the game, with Bury last facing defeat in a 16-0 mauling at the hands of top of the league Wythenshawe Women’s team.

The game will kick off at 2pm this Sunday, and will be an important fixture for both sides trying to avoid the bottom of the league.
