Candidates for the Eccles by-election have been announced after Labour Councillor Sharmina August resigned from her position in September.
The by-election will be taking taking place on the 31st October, with the new candidates being unveiled on the Salford City council website yesterday.
Taking place on Thursday 31 October, it will look to replace Cllr August after she left her position due to personal issues and an unmanageable workload.
Eccles residents will have the chance to vote in the by-election but have to register to vote by Tuesday 15 October, with the postal deadline being the 16 October.
For those who prefer to stay at home can apply for a proxy vote, the deadline is Wednesday 23 October.
Votes will have the choice of five new candidates, that will consist of Labour candidate Lisa Muir who previously led a campaign to save Monton village Christmas lights in 2022.
The project led by the new candidate was a success, as she was able to show the power in the community raising over £20,000 in the process.

The by-election will also consist of four other candidates that include a Green Party candidate, Sara Laing, who stood in the ward of Worsley and Westwood Park in the May local elections.
This will not be the only candidate who stood in the local election for the ward of Worsley and Westwood Park, as Conservative candidate Daniel Whitehouse will be running also in the by-election.
The other two candidates will consist of Liberal Democrats candidate, Ian Alexander McKinlay who stood for the ward of Claremont in the Salford City Council election and finished 3rd place.
As well as the Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition candidate Sally Griffiths, who stood for Eccles in the UK Parliamentary general election in the Worsley and Eccles constituency but finished 8th place.

Ahead of the by-election voters have encouraged residents to register, with Returning Officer, Tom Stannard adding: “I would encourage all ward residents to vote. This is your chance to have your say.”
Voters have been urged to provide a valid form of photo ID that meets the government’s requirements.
The accepted ID types are UK Passports, Driving licences, Proof of Age Standards Scheme (PASS) cards, Blue Badges and certain local travel cards. More information on what the accepted ID types can be found on Salford Council’s website.
All candidates had a deadline of Friday 4 October to submit their nomination papers. They are:
